Classical Literature & Writing Instructor – Gamified Learning & Real-World Skills

Hi, I’m Julia, part writer, part educator, and full-time champion of games to enhance education. I started out crafting news stories and later writing for HGTV. When my four kids arrived, I discovered that teaching, especially writing, was where my joy was. My own children struggled with writing. Then I found Institute for Excellence in Writing, and writing suddenly clicked. Watching their transformation encouraged me. Since then, I’ve taught hundreds of students to write with confidence. Now, I teach everything from American Literature to World Geography, Junior High Writing, Histopoly (yes, a game I built), Personal Finance, and Career Exploration. My classes are equal parts structure and adventure, think academic meets fun and games. I love watching students discover they’re capable of so much more.

Outside the classroom, you’ll probably find me hiking in the Smokies, at Bible Study Fellowship, or plotting my next geography lesson. If you love talking about playing games, or teaching kids, we’ll get along great!
